finstat/tax prep
For tax preparers and CPA firms

A client’s documents in. Tax-ready books out, in minutes.

Using Claude, ChatGPT or Grok? FinStat is the accounting tool your AI needs for tax season. Hand your AI the client’s statements, receipts, bills and invoices. FinStat builds and reconciles the books, every number tied to its source page. Then your AI can fill in the IRS forms from those books, and you review and sign. No need to pay year-round for a QuickBooks subscription just to do taxes.

From the folder to the forms.

The return cannot start until the books are done. Today that means someone posting, matching and reconciling a year of statements before anyone can look at a line. With FinStat, the books are the first minutes of the job, not the first weeks.

  1. Hand your AI the folder.

Bank and card statements, including the ones no feed reaches, receipts, bills, invoices, payout reports. PDF, image or CSV. Or the client’s QuickBooks export, if that is what you have.

  2. FinStat builds and reconciles the books.

Every statement proven against the bank’s own balances and sealed. Every transaction tied to its page. Transfers paired, the same vendor recognized across accounts. Ask for a cash view, a tax view, a Schedule C view: separate charts of accounts over one set of facts.

  3. Your AI can fill in the forms. You review.

Ask for Schedule C, Schedule E, and the rest. Your AI can pull the official IRS form PDFs and complete them from the books, or hand you the figures for your tax software. Every line traces back to a document. You review the judgment calls and sign.

It never guesses quietly.

A preparer’s trust rests on one thing: knowing what the books decided and what they left to you. Anything the documents cannot settle comes back as a review item with a short list of choices and the evidence attached.

  • The ruleA restaurant charge on the business card.
    What you get

The full charge in the books, and the meals limitation applied and named in the tax view, with the line it applied to. You confirm it or overrule it.

  • The judgment callAn insurance payout that arrived netted against a repair bill.
    What you get

Both readings, side by side: income and expense, or a net repair. The documents that support each. Your call, recorded.

  • The missing documentA Form 1098, a K-1, a statement the folder does not contain.
    What you get

Named, not invented. FinStat does not manufacture a mortgage interest figure from a bank withdrawal. The books say what is missing so you can ask the client before the deadline, not after.

  • The mixed accountOne bank account for the household and the side business.
    What you get

Two charts of accounts over the same statements: a clean household ledger and a clean Schedule C ledger, both reconciled, from one upload.

“What does the AI do with my data?”

Every client asks. Here is the answer, and it is the same answer on our security page, written so you can hand it over as it is.

Where does it go?

Only to FinStat, and only the documents you choose to send. No access to your computer, your firm’s folders, or the client’s accounts.

Can it touch their accounts?

No. It never logs in to a bank, never connects to their QuickBooks, holds no funds, and cannot move money.

Can it change the client’s records?

No. It builds a set of books from the documents and hands you the figures. Nothing is filed, and nothing is written to any system, unless you do it.

Can I see where a number came from?

Every figure on every form traces to a sealed source document. Show the client the page, not a summary.

The privacy policy and the subprocessor list are public, written to go in front of a client or an engagement letter as they are.

Straight answers.

Which forms?
What the books support: Schedule C, Schedule E, the business lines of a 1065, 1120 or 1120-S. What the books cannot know comes back as a question: depreciation history, basis, carryovers, mileage, home office.
Does it replace my tax software?
No. It replaces the weeks before the tax software: getting the books done. The figures go into whatever you file with, or your AI fills the IRS PDFs for you to review.
The client is on QuickBooks. Do I still need their statements?
Hand your AI the QuickBooks Online export and FinStat rebuilds the books from it, so you and your AI can question anything. Statements add what the export drops: the bank’s own descriptions on matched rows, and any account no feed reached.
What does it cost per client?
Nothing per client. Every client gets their own workspace, and workspaces are unlimited: no seats, no monthly fee, no QuickBooks subscription to keep alive for a client you see once a year. What is metered is reading a document into books: after the free 1M tokens on the account, $30 / 1M tokens, shown per workspace. Reports, review, verification and the forms are not metered, and a document already sealed costs nothing to read again.
Can the client do the first pass?
Yes. A client with their own FinStat account and AI can build the books and hand you sealed, source-tied documents. No shared credentials, no access to your firm’s files. You keep the review.
What happens when something does not add up?
A statement that does not reconcile is refused with the reason named. Ambiguity becomes a review item for you. If FinStat itself is wrong, ask your AI to file a support ticket; it attaches the workspace context and is not metered.
